The Brief

King’s College London needed a standalone website for UniDLA, a BBSRC-funded doctoral training programme delivered in partnership with Unilever, the University of Liverpool, the University of Manchester and University College London.

The website needed to explain the programme clearly to prospective doctoral researchers, recognise the different partner organisations and provide an accessible way to explore available research projects.

With several established brands involved, the site also needed a distinct visual identity that complemented the partner guidelines without simply reproducing them.

The Solution

I designed and developed a responsive WordPress website using Divi 5 and a custom child theme, creating a clean, contemporary design suited to both its academic and commercial audiences.

Research projects were organised using custom post types and structured data imported into WordPress from a spreadsheet. I also developed a custom project directory that allows visitors to search by project title, ID or supervisor and filter opportunities by university, funding source and cohort.

The wider site uses flexible, editable layouts so the UniDLA team can manage programme information and add future content without ongoing development. Accessibility, mobile responsiveness and core SEO foundations were considered throughout the design and build.
